Older Homeowners, who want to sell, have difficulties finding a New Place to live

by Cheryl Savage, GRI, SRES 08/03/2022

My 77-year-old Client Loves her house, and she wonders how long she'll be able to manage it. She's not alone. Capitalizing on the hot Real Estate market and selling is tempting but finding an affordable place to go is challenging. The high cost of retirement communities and long wait lists for subsidized housing makes it hard for many older Americans to sell their homes. In a little more than a decade, there will be more Americans over age 65 than under eighteen, and the housing options they'll need aren't available. The challenge will be so high that it will be in every neighborhood and community that people will see this kind of shortcomings in their housing market. I worked with my Client and her family to set up a plan before placing the property on the market.

Forward-thinking is a valuable tool in this market.
